I can highly recommend spending time in the seaside village of Jelsa on the Island of Hvar…

Everybody loves a good dose of slowly roasted meats and potatoes under the peka bell…

If you are travelling to Venice..at least take a day trip on the fast ferry across to Rovinj on the northern Croatian coastline…here you’ll find a magical spot…great cuisine and some wonderful award winning  white wines…brilliant atmosphere…and picture perfect!

Moving on down the coast we took the car ferry from Island Krk to Island Rab..what a scenic adventure…the mountains of the mainland changing colours in the setting sun..

Rab Town is absolutely delightful..so clean and so full of ambiance by night…a perfect place for a romatic getaway. This was one of King Edward and Mrs Simpson’s favourite hideaways. They spent many a holiday here…love this shot of ‘The English Couple’..so English…..so prim and proper….the fellow in the middle is the boat owner…

Visiting the ancient hilltown of Draguc in Istria was sensational…only 42 people live here these days…used to be about 500, but they have all gone since the new highway was built by-passing this sleepy little spot. Many movies have been filmed here…well worth a visit!

Fresh porcini mushrooms are everywhere throughout Istria during the Autumn, and some of the best truffles are found in the woods…Istria is the gourmet centre of Croatia with many sensational restaurants to choose from…don’t miss the multi award winning restaurant SAN ROCCO at Brtonigla.

Sailing from Split across to Supetar on Brac on the car ferry I couldn’t resist taking this fine shot of a couple definitely in sync…at least as far as hats go…

Arriving in Supetar we headed for the seaside village of Pucisca…that is the spot where the world famous Brac stone comes from….the village is one of the most pristine unspoilt and most peaceful villages I have come across, and is ‘far from the maddening crowd’ that is until a local wedding takes place…..

What's going on out there?

A wedding is happening..and that means singing dancing and feasting all night….not much sleep if you happen not to have been invited!

Nearby is the Palace Deskovic…now a very ambiant 5 star hotel for those seeking a little solitude and luxurious indulgences…
